PAVA has an office! We are excited to announce that PAVA now has a “real office”. We are partnering with Creative Pinellas at its new Arts Business Incubator (located on the grounds of the former Gulf Coast Museum of Art – 12211 Walsingham Road on the grounds of the Pinewood Cultural Center in Largo, situated between Heritage Village and the Florida Botanical Gardens).  The incubator features comfortable offices and co-working spaces and is organized similarly to popular hi-tech incubators, but with a specific focus on nonprofit arts organizations that support artists and the arts in Pinellas County.

The Arts Business Incubator is our newest initiative,” says Barbara St. Clair, Executive Director of Creative Pinellas, “and we believe it will fulfill an important need in our community.  It provides affordable office and meeting space – something that, speaking from experience, can be hard to come by – and it gives Creative Pinellas and other arts and cultural nonprofit organizations the opportunity to partner with each other and benefit from that incredible magic that happens when you purposefully put energized and creative people together.”

In addition to PAVA having an office space, we will have access to Wi-Fi, a large conference room, a classroom, mail room and resource center, kitchen/dining area as well as basic administrative support.

PAVA members are encouraged to volunteer (at the reception desk, etc.) and to participate in Creative Pinellas workshops and incubator events. This is a great way to interact and share information in a creative and inspirational environment! If you would like to volunteer to help… whether it is for a few hours “once a week” or on “once in a while”, please contact us.

PAVA has regular meetings! Mark it on your calendar … the 2nd Tuesday of every month at Noon …we will be having brown bag lunches (you bring your own lunch) and we provide a chance to mingle with other PAVA members, listen to a short program (variety of topics) and be inspired.

Our first meeting will be next Tuesday (November 14th) at Noon. Members will have a chance to tour the Creative Pinellas Arts Business Incubator and brainstorm about topics they would like to cover during future “2nd Tuesday” lunch meetings. So bring your lunch (and bring a friend that might be interested in learning more about PAVA) and be there! (12211 Walsingham Road, Largo, FL)

PAVA has a new website! If you have not checked out the PAVA website lately at you will be surprised. PAVA member Lorraine Ulen has been working hard making a website you can be proud of. It features an up to date calendar of activities and a new and expanded member’s gallery section. If you haven’t sent in your updated photos and information – please do so soon. We would like to show off the talent of all our members!

PAVA has a new venue for the PAVA Member’s Show! (We are really excited about this) We are going to be able to use the large gallery space (the former Gulf Coast Museum of Art) for The PAVA Member’s show this year. Members will be able to exhibit larger pieces and multiple pieces at this show. The show is timed to run thru the busy Holiday Season.  We plan to have the gallery open to the public on selected weekend evenings to overlap the Holiday Lights at the Botanical Gardens and the Holiday activities at Heritage Village.  Thousands of people attend these events. So it should be really good exposure for PAVA and our members.

  • Thursday November 30th –  Opening Reception  5:00 to 7:00 PM

  • Friday & Saturday December 8 and 9  – gallery open from 4:00 to 8:00 PM

  • Thursday, Friday & Saturday December 14,15,16  – gallery open from 4:00 to 8:00 PM

  • Thursday, Friday & Saturday December 21,22,23  – gallery open from 4:00 to 8:00 PM

To make this show a huge success we are encouraging all members to exhibit and also asking that exhibiting members volunteer for at least one 4 hour shift at the gallery. We would like to have at least three PAVA members present during open hours to greet the public, mingle and answer questions.

You will be receiving more detailed information about the PAVA Member’s Show in another email soon.

All this needs to happen on a rather tight timetable. We just received the final approval to use this space last Friday and want to have the opening reception on Thursday November 30th. We will also be looking for a few people to help in the set-up and takedown of the show. Remember, the more help we receive from PAVA members, the more activities we can do.
