Born in New York City, New York in 1950, I was interested in drawing and painting as a young child. That passion for the arts resurfaced many times through adulthood, even during my career as an executive for public utilities.
Taking art classes at Dunedin Fine Arts Museum in the 1990’s led to a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Visual Arts from Eckerd College in 2012. During these transitional years, I volunteered weekly at UPARC (currently ARC), helping men and women who struggle with lifelong disabilities.
With an interesting story to tell about my creative rebirth, I have been interviewed several times by local TV stations. Recently I have been a guest speaker at local events such as St. Pete Arts Alliance Education Series at the Tampa Bay Small Business Association in September 2015. My art has been featured in local shows including the Morean Art Center, St. Pete Wine & Food Festival, HSN sponsored Eat St. Pete and the National Arts Program in Pinellas County. As a resident of St. Petersburg, Florida my story and work were showcased in the Snell Island Magazine, May 2015 edition and Northeast Journal January/February 2016 edition. In recent years my work has been juried into thirteen shows, showcased in exhibits throughout the community and commissioned by private art collectors.
In the early days of RedZenArt, my studio was located in the arts district of downtown St. Pete, allowing me to meet and collaborate with many local artists and art supporters. While I’ve relocated to my home studio, I still maintain and foster those relationships. As a Board Member for St. Petersburg Arts Alliance, Co Chairman of Professional Association of Visual Artists and a member of the Advisory Board for Dunedin Fine Arts Museum, I continue to contribute to the overall advancement of arts in my community.
