Palm Harbor artist Joyce Curvin uses new and recycled materials to create zany creatures that have attitude and spunk. These colorful characters—infused with large doses of humor—are inspired by the wildlife of Florida, from funky Sandhill Cranes, lazy alligators, to her very own dog and cat. As a working artist for more than 28 years, Joyce has always allowed fun colors, interesting textures and a playful spirit to fill her work.
Joyce strives to keep her art environmentally friendly by using what she likes to call, multi-cycling. Materials used for her armatures have included, but are never limited to: plastic bottles, cardboard, newspaper, scrap wood and leather, old toys, guitar strings, wires and layers of paint.
You never know what might morph into one of her zany creatures.
