PAVA Board Meeting Munutes
January 21, 2009 5:30-7:00 p.m.

In Attendance: Susan Rollins Gehring, Barbara Kampe Hanson, Stephen Schatz, Denis Gaston, Carol Sackman, Lin Carte, Connie Parkinson, Davida Milne, Barbara Burnhans, Mellisa Miller Nece, Jenna Star Friedman

Discussions held on the following:

Finding a new member for the board of trustees to replace Bill Scott (who has moved to Texas).

Change in bookkeepers: Marlee stepping down, Barbara will take over the position at the end of April. Quickbooks to be provided for Barbara's computer.

Outdoor show sponsored by Flagship Bank on March 21. In celebration of its 3rd anniversary, Bank is offering use of parking lot - space for about 30 artists; artists will need to sign up in advance. Create your own space idea, each artist can do however they want - not necessary to have tent; early morning set-up for one day show. Bank will do some publicity. Flagship Bank is located on U.S. 19, SW side of Curlew. Call to Artists will be sent out to group members.

Ruth Eckerd Hall show: For June, July, August. Will cost $200 this year and will not be displayed downstairs - will be upstairs on the west end. Due to space limitations, will need to be juried and artwork limited in size. Board decided that is still a worthwhile venue despite new cost and space limits.

Community project proposed by Lin Carte: Would like to involve PAVA to promote art in the community and give something back, such as a scholarship for students at Creative Clay (studio space for disabled). Lin will look into money specifics about this.

Cool Art show: Last year PAVA made over $300 after all expenses. Suggestion that Cool Art has its own website to promote show, which will be linked to PAVA site. Stephen Schatz will look into how to set up website and what it entails. Proposal made and decided to make the dinner a regular part of Cool Art.

Left over T-shirts from last year's Cool show can be given to volunteers, and sold during March 21 outdoor show.

Membership renewal letters have gone out.

Possible exhibiting spaces, such as Clearwater main library, were discussed. The auditorium - meeting room downstairs - at Leepa Rattner may be good space for member's show.

Meeting Adjourned.

Respectfully submitted,
Jenna Star Friedman
