PAVA Board Meeting Munutes
August 2, 2009 4:30 - 6:45 pm
Present: Susan Rollins Gehring, Davida Milne, Denis Gaston, David Lawrence, Barbara Burhans, Barbara Hubbard, Barbara Hanson, Jenna Friedman
Susan Gehring opened the meeting.
- Discussion on future exhibits:
- Ruth Eckerd Hall - waiting for response from committee whether we get it next year.
- 2010 Members show will be at Clearwater Library - downstairs gallery.
- David Lawrence talked about possible exhibit space at Tampa Airport. He will contact the Airport for information.
- Denis Gaston talked about the 600 block of Central Ave. being converted to art studios - he will talk to Leslie Curran to find out about renting for a 30 day deal.
- Discussion about becoming a 501c3. PAVA currently is a not-for-profit organization but not a non-profit organization such as a 501c3. This is a federal not a state thing. It will require a lot of writing; we should publish our educational topic meetings in a newspaper. We have good written records, but will need an accountant. David Lawrence will talk to his wife, who is CPA, to get her opinion for proceeding. Also, Sally Lindberg, CPA, will be contacted by Susan for her thoughts.
- Discussion about increasing membership fee. Decided to raise fee starting in November to: $35 individual, $50 couple, $50 patron, $15 student. Prices for thumbnail and gallery page will remain the same.
- Discussion about website and more web interaction. Will add Cool video link to Cool site and PAVA site. A web site committee will be formed to review the site and make recommendations.
- Susan and Barbara Hanson will be reviewing meeting topics, dates, and studio parties for the year.
- Davida Milne discussed Cool 09 show wrap up, and another meeting will be held to finalize the Cool Show.
